The Danish Embassy in Brasilia is constantly trying to reduce its energy consumption and lower its impact on the environment.
The embassy takes part in the “Green Mission Initiative” along with many other Danish embassies around the world and uses the forum to exchange ideas for new energy saving measures. At the same time, the embassy has an environmental dialogue with the other Nordic embassies in Brasilia in a joint “Green Working Group” where colleagues from the four Nordic embassies regularly discuss new ways of reducing energy consumption locally.
Since 2009, the embassy has introduced several new initiatives, including changing all light bulbs to energy saving models, installing solar water heaters and sorting all embassy garbage. These measures have contributed to a significant decrease in electricity consumption which is now one third lower than in early 2009.
The embassy remains committed to finding new ways of saving energy and reducing its impact on the local community and the host country.
