Birth certificate

If you require a copy of a Danish birth certificate, you must contact either the church in Denmark, where your birth was registered or the parish of your last residential address in Denmark.

If you do not know, where your birth was registered or which parish you belong to, then please contact the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs in Denmark (Kirkeministeriet). Make sure to include all the information you have about your birth.

Please find the address and contact information on the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs here (In Danish only).

The copy of your birth certificate will not be mailed directly to you. You must nominate a Danish authority (Danish diplomatic mission) from which you can collect it. Upon collection you must present photo ID (passport or driver’s license).

Please note, that a fee will be charged, in case the birth certificate is obtained from a Danish diplomatic mission. Please find the list of consular fees here.

Criminal record

Danish citizens and foreigners, who wish to obtain a copy of their Danish criminal record, must contact the Danish National Police.

Please find the contact information of the Danish National Police here

If the applicant has NEM-ID, a digital version of the criminal record can be ordered from www.politi.dk.

For more information, please see the website of the Danish National Police here.
