Position: Communication and Cultural Affairs Officer

Type of employment: Full time permanent employment on a local contract

Starting date: 1 August 2025 (tentatively)

The Embassy is seeking to recruit an engaged and talented Communication and Cultural Affairs Officer from August 1st 2025.

 

Your main responsibility will be to help convey and put spotlight on Danish perspectives and values and on the wealth and depth of the Danish-Brazilian relationship. You will do so through our social media, through media relations and different cultural activities. You will be part of the embassy’s Political and Economic Affairs Team but will work with all departments and our colleagues at the Consulate General in São Paulo. You can also expect a lot of support and inspiration from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ great communication team in Copenhagen.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities as Communication and Cultural Affairs Officer

  • Development and daily management of the Embassy’s social media platform.
  • Implementing projects for the promotion of key public diplomacy messages around Denmark.
  • Proactively build relationships with key media.
  • Conduct local media screening on issues of relevance to the embassy.
  • Manage the embassy’s projects related to media literacy and information integrity.
  • Draft, coordinate and plan events and briefing material promoting Danish perspectives and values by ensuring Danish participation in festivals, exhibitions, seminars etc., some of them in partnership with the Nordic Embassies, the EU and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct fundraising for public diplomacy and cultural activities.
  • Lead collaboration with other Nordic embassies in Brasilia and the Danish Cultural Institute in Brazil.
  • To optimise the use of resources within the Embassy, you are expected to occasionally help out in other areas outside of your daily portfolio.

 

Required qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor degree
  • At least two years of professional experience with social media or communication/media related work
  • Interest in Danish culture, traditions and values
  • Excellent spoken and written Portuguese and English. Spanish is a plus.
  • Solid IT skills, apart from social media (Microsoft Office)
  • A pro-active, open-minded, creative approach to handling of tasks
  • Empathetic and interested in working in a team
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of the Embassy
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Employment conditions

  • You will be offered full time permanent employment on a local contract based on the legally binding labour market rules of Brazil.
  • Your standard working hours will be 40 hours per week with a degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
  • You and your dependant family members will be offered reasonable coverage of sickness expenses.
